Diastasis Recti: Doming/Coning

We usually associate Diastasis Recti (see our previous post about Ab separation) with Pregnancy but it happens in Men also! In the video below, you can see this client’s “doming” or “coning” when asked to lift his head. Why does this happen? It can be due to carrying extra weight in the middle or an issue with regulating intra-abdominal pressure. Heavy lifting can sometimes lead to hernias due to the high levels of intra-abdominal pressure to stabilize the spine. Good News: you can improve how the Core functions and improve the Diastasis (narrowing the gap or simply improving the load tolerance across the fascia) in BOTH men and women!
