Diastasis Recti Reduced

This patient is 3 months postpartum and kind enough to allow us to demonstrate what her 3 finger Diastasis looks like in real time with movement. See our previous post on what a Diastasis Recti is (a weakening of the fascia, linea alba causing separation of the 2 sides of the rectus abdominus aka 6 pack muscle). She had a C-section and is in fairly good shape. You can see the “doming” or “coning” in the center of her abdominal wall when she bends backwards. But almost immediately with the right cuing from our head PT, Victoria Liu, she’s able to reduce it almost completely! Her goal is to get back to running  the smart way. She wants to know if she should do planks or sit-ups for her abs and what else she can do to get back to working out. We answer all these questions and more in our next Core & Pelvic Floor ReBoot Camp on April 13 @12 noon. Stay tuned!
